Nagasaki Peace-preneur Forum 2025

Nagasaki Peace-Preneur Forum

Nagasaki Peace-Preneur Forum

The Nagasaki Peace-Preneur Forum 2025, powered by the One Young World Nagasaki Council, is now accepting scholarship applications. The forum aims to unite changemakers from across the globe to foster peace and dialogue in an increasingly divided world. Held in Nagasaki, Japan—a city with a profound legacy of peace advocacy following the atomic bombing—the forum commemorates the 80th anniversary of this historical event.

Building on the success of its inaugural 2024 event, the 2025 forum will focus on the themes of Division and Dialogue, addressing global and societal fragmentation, rising inequality, and challenges to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). Participants will explore methods for fostering meaningful dialogue across lines of difference and creating inclusive frameworks that empower all individuals, especially marginalised groups. A special local focus, “Breaking the Nuclear Taboo,” will draw attention to the renewed urgency of nuclear disarmament, especially in light of the Hibakusha movement’s Nobel Peace Prize recognition.

Scheduled for 16–18 May 2025 at Nagasaki Stadium City and other venues, the forum will feature keynote speeches, open talks, panel discussions, and highly interactive networking opportunities.

Scholarship opportunities are available for One Young World Ambassadors. Two recipients will receive up to JPY 200,000 for travel expenses, free accommodation, and full event access. Three additional recipients will be granted accommodation and complimentary participation. Applicants must submit an essay or portfolio aligned with the forum’s themes, along with a short video (max. three minutes) explaining their motivation.
